The fact of the matter is that these magazine covers are far more damaging not only to Shiloh but also to all individuals who consider their gender identity to be something other than heteronormative - especially younger people. I think you’ll find that it’s not a fluid spectrum of gender expression that’s harmful to children, but rather the negative reaction to it that does more damage. Rejection of difference from adults and lack of positive reinforcement for nonconformity truly has the poisonous affect on young children, and impact from the media, such as Life & Style magazine covers, can perpetuate that attitude easily, quickly, and enduringly.

Agree! The way that I’ve seen Angelina and Brad handle Shiloh’s gender exploration has actually been really refreshing (especially for such a high profile Hollywood couple). Of course the media would make this a SCANDAL, TABOO, etc. But I’m not I’m not surprised that media outlets would go there. While homosexuality is excepted in some (very specific) ways, transgender, gender queer, and anything in the middle of the LGBTQ spectrum is not. So of course, they would ridicule this family and this child for something they can’t put their finger on and quickly categorize. But it IS Lifestyle…they’re a step up from the National Inquirer…trashy as they can get.
